Children’s Books We Create

Children’s books come in many formats, and each one brings its own creative, design, and production considerations.

Callawind works with authors, publishers, and organizations to create professionally produced children’s books—from picture books and board books for young children to educational titles, graphic novels, young adult books, and specialty formats.

What to Expect When You Work with Callawind

Every children’s book project starts with a conversation.

We’ll want to learn about your book, your intended readers, where you are in the publishing process, and what you ultimately hope to do with it.

Some of the questions we may explore together include:

children's books we create

Don’t worry if you can’t answer all these questions yet. You don’t need to know exactly how your book should be produced before you contact us. Helping you understand those choices is part of what we do.

A Publishing Plan Built Around Your Book

Once we understand your project, we’ll prepare a customized quote based on the professional services and book specifications you need. And those specifications can evolve.

Perhaps you’re undecided between softcover and hardcover. You may want to compare book sizes, papers, bindings, or print quantities. Or we may determine together that your manuscript or illustrations would benefit from additional professional work before the book moves into design.

We’ll help you evaluate the options and understand how different choices can affect both your finished book and your budget.

Once the project details are finalized and the quote is approved, we establish a production schedule based on your target completion date and begin moving your book through the required stages.

Throughout the process, we keep an eye on the details, the schedule, and the bigger picture: creating a professionally produced book you can be proud to put into a reader’s hands.

Your Book Doesn’t Have to Fit into a Publishing Package

At Callawind, we don’t believe every children’s book should follow the same publishing formula.

Every project comes to us at a different stage and with different needs.

A first-time author may need guidance through virtually every step. Another author may already have an illustrator and need professional editing, design, and/or printing services. Publishers and organizations may come to us with print-ready files and need only printing, production, and project management.

That flexibility means you pay for the professional services your project needs rather than being placed into a predetermined package.

Just as importantly, you don’t have to navigate the process alone. We explain your options, answer your questions, and discuss the advantages and trade-offs involved in important decisions.

And because we understand both the creative and production sides of publishing, we can identify potential problems early—before they become expensive problems later.
