About Callawind

For more than 30 years, Callawind has been bringing books to life—from the earliest stages of a manuscript through editing, design, layout, printing, and the finished book.

Today, we specialize in children’s books, including board books, picture books, early readers, graphic novels, and educational books. We work with authors, publishers, and organizations to create beautifully designed and professionally produced children’s books.

Our recent work with U.S.-based Paw Prints Publishing, now an imprint of Dover Publications, included managing the production of more than 100 children’s books. From new titles to reprints across a wide range of formats, these projects strengthened our expertise in the specialized design, printing, and manufacturing requirements of children’s books.

Callawind began as an independent cookbook publisher in 1995 with Rise & Dine: Savory Secrets from America’s Bed & Breakfast Inns. The book became a North American bestseller and was nominated for a Benjamin Franklin Book Design Award. A Canadian edition, multiple printings, and new editions followed.

That first success led to an extensive cookbook publishing program and collaborations with acclaimed chefs and food writers. Over the years, Callawind also expanded into book publishing services for children’s books, cookbook fundraisers, art and museum books, educational books, business books, and other specialty publications.

Over the years, books published or produced by Callawind have received more than 15 awards and distinctions, including a Good Housekeeping Best Kids Book Award, a Moonbeam Children’s Book Award, and a Taste Canada Cookbook Award. Our books have also received hundreds of media mentions across the U.S. and Canada.

Today, children’s book publishing is at the heart of what we do.

Publishing a book involves creative, technical, and financial decisions that affect quality, production costs, and the finished result. Callawind helps clients navigate these decisions at every stage of the book creation process.

After more than three decades, we still get excited every time a newly printed book comes off the press—and especially when we see how excited our clients are to hold their finished book for the first time.

A Different Kind of Publishing Experience

Publishing a children’s book involves decisions about editing, design, format, print quantity, paper, binding, and where to print.
